Chapter Three - Mcduff Is a Key To Our US history Unsolved Mysteries

This Book Is A Placeholder For Future Research Into America's Most Important Unsolved Mysteries

If you were writing a screenplay about a smart, tough Irish lawman who works his way up the FBI to become Hoover’s most trust man to handle the most sensitive files to then be Hoover’s eyes and ears at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, you would embellish the script with McDuff playing football at Harvard, volunteering for Midshipmen Training at Columbia University to serve on MacArthur’s flagship USS Nashville instead of going to Wall Street. You may even throw in a kamikaze attack on the Nashville and a heroic effort as a fire control officer to give the story a Kennedyesque PT-109 feel. But in McDuff’s case, that wouldn’t be necessary. Thomas Francis O’Loughlin did all those things. I sat in the National Archives in Greenbelt, Maryland pawing through the deck logs of the USS Nashville reading the damaging reports and the sick bay reports of men dying from burn wounds for days after the kamikaze attack. McDuff is the real McCoy.
